Today I write the creation and development of the Natural Heads Brand to help us build a connection. All of my life I’ve always focused on finding that loophole that would allow me to live my dream of being a successful, respected Business Owner. I believe the only thing that held me back for so very long was not having a true and honest interest in anything.
About 3 years ago, I took the first step into the realm of being all Natural. My initial reason for becoming Natural, was my idea that going natural would make my life way easier in the morning when it was time to get myself and my two Young Boy ready to get out the door.
Well the first couple of Months was awesome, all I had to do was shower, cook, dress the Kiddies and myself and we were out the door. Worrying about hair was a think of the past so I thought.
About six Months into my all natural journey I realized that my hair had grown 3 times faster than I was even prepared for. It seemed like I went to sleep with a TWA and jumped out of bed the next Day with a head full of hair. At this time I can’t even say I at least started investigating what my hair type was, what types of oils, butters and extract my hair would actually respond to. I was Clueless for lack of a better word.
My Natural Hair Journey landed me in every single Beauty Supply Store I could drive my car to, looking for that major product that would tame all of the thick, bi-polar, out of control 4C hair that had grown from my scalp seems like over-nite.
I can honestly say I may have spend at least five thousand dollars on hair product alone, some kind of worked, some sent me to the nearest pair of scissors I could locate. I mean I was just about at the very last straw with the entire idea of having Natural Hair. I was three Days away from a perm and a wash & set.
During this time I started a blog called Hair Beautiful & Great, I needed a place where I could vent and just be honest about my frustrations. One Day I turned on my Computer to go on yet again another rant, and a D.I.Y video popper up. The topic was using everyday kitchen items to help with maintaining natural hair.
I was soo excited, that I dumped my Daily rant and immediately started watching videos on how to create my own hair products. A few weeks after that Light-Bulb in the sky moment, I had a true AHAAA Moment. I realized that nothing I was doing and learning was any different from what I already knew, because I had a GrandMa who cared for my hair my entire childhood, and I can honestly say I’ve never watched my GMA set foot in a Beaty Supply Store.
I sat down with a pen and pad, I wrote down every cream, butter, oil, herb etc. worked for my hair while I was learning to make my very own hair products at home. Then I flipped through my mental rolodex even further thinking of all of the ingredients my GMA would mix together to get my hair to behave. It took me about a Week, but I was able to complete My goal. I wrote down every single mixture I could think of and added a little Sky twist by adding my favorite butters, oils, extracts etc. Before I knew it people were asking me what products did I use. And I didn’t have a name to give them, but I was willing to re-create it for anyone who wanted to use it, because I understood the frustration of having a dresser full of products but non of them fully worked.
Soon after I realized that I did find something that I truly loved and enjoyed. I knew that developing my own Brand would reach so many people because the foundation of the products is that they were all created with Love.
01/2016 The Brand created in my kitchen has become a Corporation “Natural Heads LLC”, we have been working to bring the Natural Hair Community a product that does 100% of everything that we say it does.
I would like to personally Thank You all for taking the time out to support the Natural Heads Brand.
